Opera Works (Grades K-6)

If you doubt that a program about opera could be one of our funniest and most popular offerings, you haven’t seen OPERA WORKS. Your students will never again think opera is stuffy once the cast presents their lighthearted mix of great singing, comedy and audience participation. With excerpts from The Barber of Seville – Porgy & Bess – La Traviata – Don Giovanni and more, the student volunteers and general audience alike will share a wonderful opportunity to develop a lasting appreciation of opera. Created in 1978 by Stephen Mosel, Artistic Director of Young Audiences New Jersey and still being performed today in the Garden State, OPERA WORKS is presented in Connecticut for the first time. The longrunning program is being performed by an enthusiastic and very talented cast from the Hartt School of Music. Length: 45 minutes

One performance:  $1,150

Two Back-to-back:  $,1420

Three performances:  $1,690

Study Guide – Opera Works Connecticut

Young Audiences Arts for Learning Connecticut: Our mission is to integrate the arts into the lives of children in educational and community settings. Our vision for Connecticut is that all children realize their potential through the arts; that the arts are valued for their ability to improve our schools and communities; that, by participation in the arts, children come to understand and value themselves, their neighbors, and the world cultures they share.

We are an Affiliate of VSA arts… an international nonprofit organization that is creating a society where all people with disabilities learn through, participate in, and enjoy the arts.

We offer educational classroom workshops, school cultural programs, school arts programs, assembly programs, arts integration programs, artist in residence programs – bringing theater, music, drama, puppetry, visual arts, storytelling, drawing, painting, history and cultural arts to the classroom.
